If I get a 37mm lentil press will I be able to use it ok with a hothead please.  I really want one but not sure if melting that much glass will work, I mean I can melt that much glass and they can go straight into the kiln, but would there be anything else stopping me using one on a hothead.  I have a Christmas pressie to buy.  ;D

Billie

A 37mm lentil takes approx. 2 rods of glass.  How long will that take to melt on a HH would be the question I'd ask myself before getting one.  Also you have to keep the bead warm while decorating or it'll crack before you get it in the kiln.  The flame is bushy enough I guess... Could you borrow one and give it a try?

Maria Louisa

It really depends on how thick the lentil is.
My 4cm lentil needs 23grams of glass and this is approximately 1 glassrod of 33cm.

I'd suggest a duo, I got the 30mm and 38mm one from Maria Louisa just in case I couldn't do the bigger one.. I can, but it takes a long time, and I'm on a minor and one oxycon. :-\

Has anyone got one I could borrow for a couple of weeks or even just a week to try out before I buy one. Please.  Or some other interesting shape I could try out, please.

Lush!

Katie, I have a 40mm tab you could borrow.

And I completely forgot about the glass swap we're meant to be doing, so I could post both together, sorry  :-[

PM me your address and I'll get on with it all tomorrow  :)

Thank you you're a star and when I return it I'll send you back the postage.  ;D

Maria Louisa

The tab does take much more glass than a lentil so I don't think you have to compare those 2 for making your decision Katie.

Ladies, I don't think it's appropriate to have your home addresses in a thread - You don't know who is tracking the forum.  Katie, I've modifed your post. Can you send it via a PM?  :-*

Katiequiggle

OMG hadn't realised I'd put it in the thread, thought I'd pm'd it, see I'm really not with it still.  Sorry.

Billie

I didn't realise I could modify the threads on this board until I looked properly - I thought it was only the poster or Tan  ::)  I'm just worried about lurkers getting your personal details hun  ;)

Katiequiggle

No you're right, I'm a twit, thought I'd gone and done it as a pm, You're quite right I don't want it on a public forum though not because of any of our lovely members just because of weirdo lurkers like Tan and Q and and and......  ;D ;D ;D
