Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this as it's not a problem as such so mods, please feel free to move if this is the wrong place. I've been practicing my encasing and it's going really well now I'm using transparent stringers which make things soooooo much easier but I've seen beads where the line between the core and encasement is very distinct. How is this achieved? I thought about letting the opaque glass core go almost cold but surely encasing in hot transparent will cause the bead to crack? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post pics here of what I mean (giving credit to the artists of course)? Again, I'd be really grateful for your advice on this!

You can let the glass go quite cool before encasing it - not totally cold obviously but cool enough to be firm.  Hope that helps.  :)

Gay is spot on.  You need to let the core cool right down and keep it just under the flame until you are ready to encase, then get your clear very soft before encasing.  That way, your core will stay distinct without the clear smudging it.
