I bought the above kiln from Martin a while ago and it came with a kiln shelf and kiln post and something else that looks like squished cotton wool! I need to get some Kaiser Lee Board, or something I can cut about and use as a mold. Is the stuff that came with the kiln it?

Errr....could it be a fibre blanket? The squished cotton wool? If it's too soft to cut a mould out of, then maybe it is - I know Martin sells them, and I think somebody mentioned they place it under their bead kebabs to avoid damage during annealing....sorry, not much help!  :(

Thanks Sabine,

Its not really soft, it is a board but has a funny look to it. I couldn't think of another way to describe it, apart from 'its white'.
I've never seen fiber blanket but i'm pretty sure this is too hard.

Cannot remember the name for it, but I use it to put silver clay pieces on when firing (you place it directly on the floor of the kiln, not on the kiln shelf).  As far as I recall, you cannot put glass directly on it.  Fusing glass should be put on thinfire paper, or kiln wash, on the kiln shelf.

Thanks Julie, looks like I need to shell out the £20 for the Kaiser Lee Board stuff then! Oh well another purple note bites the dust!
