I have watched a few videos on pulling stringers and have decided to have a go... :-\

Could anyone recommend the type of flame tool I should get.

I don't want to go any further than making stringers so I don't need a super duper, all singing, all dancing kind.

Thank you

Sandra

A Hothead should do you.  I have a spare one you can have, if you want.

Send me a personal message via the right hand little thing under my avatar, telling me your address, and I'll send it to you.

Forgive me for asking, Sandra, but do you know how to set it up? Glass suppliers sell ready made stringer in the same base colours as glass. If you don't want the huge tubes of Bullseye stringers that Warmglass sell, you can get smaller quantites from Glass Studio Supplies who are on ebay or have their own website.   :)

Hi June...I don't have a clue other than what I have seen on UYube.  ;D

I have agreed to buy a secondhand torch from Nick and I will get the holder from Warmglass and gas from B&Q.

I have several tubes of stringers but I like to try new things and if I don't get on with it, well I haven't spent a lot on it.

I already have a number of rods which I bought the last time Glass Studio Supplies had a sale and I will use them to practice on. But I intend to progress  carefully and gingerly.

I'm sure there'll be someone in your area who could take you through the basics.

When you've got the hang of stringers you'll be able to pull twisties, that's even more fun!

Are you anywhere near Glass Studio Supplies Sandra? I ask because they are only about 15 miles from me.
