UPDATED with solution - Picking up Petals for Sculptural Rose

I don't know about how hot they need to be, but hot glass sticks to hot metal, that's why we use bead release and keep our metal tools cool.

When you pull the petals do you make a gather, squish with mashers and pull the squished petal off the end of the rod? Can you heat a slightly larger gather or make a slightly smaller petal and pull the petal off the rod with a 'stringer' attached. Then use the stringer as a handle for picking the petal up and sticking it to the rose, simply melt the stringer off?

As the steel shot should be warm, I'm hoping that its cool enough not to stick and warm enough not to shock. If this doesnt work I will have a go at the cooling bubbles, I will try the stringer method too, thanks!
Just need to do a bit more 'work' then off to my workroom playroom!
